April Report
let me begin by saying sorry for not updating/going on irc for a few weeks. i had just moved to my new apato (shared with 3 other Malaysian students) and we have yet gotten our internet line. T.T anyways here's a list of all the interesting things i've done since april 1st.
1 (friday) : moved in to our new apato, followed by rigorous shopping that would've done any girl proud. but since all 4 of us are boys, we were just DAMNED TIRED
3 (sunday) : to commemorate our moving in, our senpais brought us somewhere in tottori (sorry i forgot the place's name) for ichigogari, which basically means "cut strawberries". u heard that right, i went to a strawberry farm and had around 2 bowlfuls of red sweet freshly picked strawberries. XDXD
4-7 (monday-thursday) : the orientation of our university, Toridai. there were lectures on how to register yourself into Toridai, how to register the classess ur taking and some other crap which we 75% didnt understand. >.> there was also the niugakushiki (entrance ceremony) which we skipped, since we woke up late and had to go to the town hall to get our gaijin cards.
8 (friday) : class starts. my first lesson was Earth Science, and the first subject we touched was the history of how we view the universe. u know, galileo, newton, solar systems, that stuff. it's funny seeing my hard-work memorising Asterisk paid off in class, since most of the lecture was about stars. (people who know the song would understand)
9 (saturday) : we went to Fuse Park in tottori for hanami. we barbequed under the sakura trees, played sepak raga for a while, and i had the chance to go walk my senpai's pet ferret, which garnered quite a crowd wherever he went. >< we later had a friendly soccer match with the tottori arabians. we lost 6-4 in a 1 hour match. not bad seeing this was the first time most of us exercised. XD
14 (thursday) : i finally got my keitai (hand phone)!! it's a typical japanese silver 3g flip-phone with a 1.0 megapixel built in camera which sends emails instead of sms. it costs me a whopping 15,000 yen but i think its worth it. XD oh, if u wanted know, my phone's call ringtone is Pride by High and Mighty Color, while my email ringtone is none other than Asterisk by Orange Range. oh i love japanese technology. XO
16,17 (saturday, sunday) : this time we had an orientation for international students. the numbers surprised me a bit. let's see... 5 canadians, 2 africans, 7 chinese, 7 koreans and 4 malaysians. in the middle of the orientation we had a party held by Toridai's International Friendship Association (IFA). we saw a mochi-making show, we ate a few traditional japanese snacks, we played a few traditional japanese toys, but basically we mingled amongst ourselves.
it was here that i met Kana-san, a cute girl a year older than me who's studying agriculture in Toridai. she's friends with my senpai, which i figure is the only reason she approached us. she mentioned that she belongs to the university's figure skating club, and later invited us to go visit her club's training session the next tuesday. i seized the chance and asked her number, just in case i wanted to go. XDXD
damn. the library's closing. i'll continue what happened yesterday (19th April) tomorrow. wait for it. i guarantee you it's an interesting read. XD
